Environment

Its well publicized that the Alps are on the ‘front-line' of climate changes due to greenhouse gases collecting in the atmosphere and preventing heat from escaping.

This is the environment that we choose to live, work and play in, but unless we do something now, the mountains we love may not be the same in the near future or for future generations.

In association with Atmosfair we off-set our carbon emissions- a direct result of electricity consumption and vehicle emissions.  This involves  investing in projects that help reduce carbon emissions in other ways.

These involve

  • Renewable energy - this replaces non-renewable fuel such as coal
  • Energy efficiency - this reduces the amount of fuel needed
  • Forest restoration - this absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere as the trees grow.

Last season we produced 5.1 tonnes of CO2 which was off-set through some of the projects above.

For more details on these projects please see; https://www.atmosfair.de/en/our-projects/projekte00/

But it doesn't stop with carbon emissions. We are also trying to reduce our ‘carbon footprint' by re-cycling as much of our waste as possible and using enviromentally friendly products such as Magic Potion 100% bio-degradable ski-waxes.

All the ski manufacturers that we work with, all have strong environmental charter's and are actively looking to improve their environmental position. For example Head skis have invested in a large chunk of Brazilian rainforest in a bid to help off-set their carbon footprint.

To check out what else you can do help preserve the mountain environment see the Ski Club of Great Britain's RESPECT THE MOUNTAIN campaign.

We're also delighted to tell you that K2 donate a percentage of all their sales of T:9 women specific skis to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. One of the reasons why 75% of our new womens specific skis are from the K2 T:9 range.
